CRITICAL CONSERVATION UPDATE

A Leopard Cub's Visit Reminded Us Why Wildlife Protection Matters

Recently, an unexpected and touching visitor arrived at Kalsee Eco Lodge. A young leopard cub wandered into our lodge and remained within the premises for nearly two days. With the guidance and support of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the cub safely returned to the surrounding forest. While the cub was unharmed, the incident raised important concerns about the increasing challenges faced by wildlife in our region. The cub appeared exhausted, hungry, and unusually comfortable around people.

Wildlife Under Increasing Threat

Kalsee Eco Lodge is located in the heart of a forest ecosystem that serves as an important habitat for numerous wildlife species. Unfortunately, the expansion of motor-accessible roads has made remote areas easier to reach, increasing opportunities for illegal hunting and poaching activities. Without proper monitoring, vulnerable wildlife populations face growing risks.

Our Solution: Wildlife Surveillance and Protection Programme

To better understand and protect wildlife, we aim to install a network of solar-powered surveillance cameras. These cameras will play a critical role in preserving key habitats and backing anti-poaching forces:
